Five Lakh Houses approved under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: Smt. Maya Singh

Bhopal: A total of 5 lakh 11thosuand houses have been approved for 378 urban bodies in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. These houses are being given houseless poor families of the state. While giving this information, Minister for Urban Development and Housing Smt. Maya Singh said that possessions have already been given to over 62 thousand beneficiaries in the state.

Smt. Singh mentioned that a target to construct 5 lakh houses in the state was fixed by the end of 2018 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. A total of 5 lakh 11 thousand 230 houses have been approved till now against the target. The houses include 4 lakh 45 thousand 721 EWS, 47 thousand 91 LIGs and 18 thousand 418 MIGs, the construction of these houses are going on. Under the Urban Housing scheme, the possession of total 62 thousand 117 houses including 34 thousand 831 houses approved earlier and 27 thousand 286 houses built under the newly approved projects has already been given.

She further informed that land without any cost is being given by the state government to the local bodies for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Such poor, who are dwelling in the urban areas on the government land till December 2014, are being given pattas. Beneficiaries have to share up to Rs. 2 lakh under the affordable housing scheme, she added.

Beneficiaries who possess pattas of the government land will be provided Rs. 2 lakh 50 thousand for house construction under the scheme. Under this, approval for construction of 3 lakh 2 thousand 859 houses has been given till now.-Window To News
