ODF declared village Khadotia shines with cleanliness

Bhopal: Khadotia village of Badnagar tehsil in Ujjain district was declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) long back. The village still tops in cleanliness due to constant alertness of the sarpanch. There is a toilet in every house and dustbins are kept outside in the village. Waste from the village is sorted and fertilizer is made from waste used in NADEP. Visitors to the village are surprised to see how clean the village is today.

 As many as 315 toilets are being used in the houses along with community toilets constructed for public use in the village. Sarpanch Shri Bane Singh says that no one defecates in the open in the village. A regular sanitation worker has been appointed who regularly cleans the village. Toilets were constructed in the houses of the village after much hard work. Today there are toilets in 135 houses of the village. Rs 12 thousand grant was given to each villager to get the toilets constructed. In the remaining houses, old toilets were built at a cost of Rs 10 thousand. Grant has been made available for people belonging to the BPL Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe. The grant has been made available to Backward Class families also with women heads.-Window To News
