Mission Indradhanush reduces number of Measles victims

Bhopal: There is a marked decline in measles cases in the state due to immunization under Mission Indradhanush. This year hardly 900 cases have been registered against 2,369 cases last year. Giving this information Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Rustum Singh appealed to the people of the state to get all children vaccinated against measles. The first dose is given between 9 to 12 months and the second dose between 16 to 24 months. Measles can be fatal if untreated.

Rustum Singh said that the Measles vaccine is administered in all government health centres free of cost. The child should be given complete immunization along with measles. The symptoms of measles are cold, cough, red eyes, high fever and small red spots on skin. Measles is a contagious disease therefore special attention should be paid to protect a child from infection. Vaccination helps protect the child from measles. The vaccine is safe and economical.

Minister Singh said that measles immunization campaign will be launched in year 2018 in which children between 9 months and 15 years will be administered vaccines by the end of the year. There is a marked decline in measles cases in Madhya Pradesh after the Khasra Rakshak Abhiyan that began in year 2013 and it has been praised by the centre also.-Window To News
