Free and mandatory Right to Child Education Act-2011 comes into effect

Bhopal: Free admission is being given to children from disadvantaged groups and weaker section in Class I and first admitted class on minimum 25 percent seats in non-aided private schools. So far 10 lakh children of the state have been able to avail benefits. A provision of Rs 350 crore has been kept in the budget of the Department of School Education for this in the year 2018-19.

Academic admission process has been initiated through online lottery to make the free admission process of children from disadvantaged groups and weaker sections transparent and easier. The online admission process has provided better opportunities for admission in good schools to the children of the weaker class. In the last academic session 2017-18, one lakh 46 thousand children were provided free admission in private schools. State government will reimburse the fees of the admitted children.

The fee reimbursement process is being made more transparent and strong under the Act. Now under RTI, the Aadhar numbers of the children studying free of cost is registered on the portal and the arrangement for aadhar verification of the children is being made on the portal through biometric machines. The state government has framed free and mandatory Right to Child Education Act-2011 for the implementation of free and mandatory Right to Child Education Act -2009. Under the Act the minimum standard of infrastructure and teacher for running of school has been fixed. On meeting the standards, there is provision of recognition to private schools under the Act.
