Madhya Pradesh first in implementation of Soubhagya Yojana

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is first in the implementation of Soubhagya Yojana in the country. So far 12 lakh 30 thousand 360 houses have been provided power connections under the scheme. This information was given at a review meeting of the Energy Department taken by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Energy Minister Paras Jain and Chief Secretary B.P. Singh were present at the meeting.

CM Chouhan issued instructions at the meeting to raise the level of satisfaction of power consumers. Power companies should ensure better arrangement of its team. Skills should be enhanced at the lower level. Efforts must be made to stop power theft and increase recoveries. Approval on principle was given to the Samadhan Yojana of remaining payment of proposed electricity bills and the Saral Bill Yojana of the electricity bills of unorganized labourers at the meeting. He said that the electricity bills should be simplified and the contract workers working in power companies should be regularized.

It was told at the meeting that this year 450 crore power units were supplied in state. Total 2 lakh 77 thousand pump connections have been given so far under Mukhya Mantri Sthayi Krishi Pump Yojana. Around 1.25 lakh new connections will be given by the end of December in the current year. Power connections have been provided to 12 lakh 20 thousand 360 houses against the target of 30 lakh 14 thousand 439 under Soubhagya Yojana. Cent percent target has been achieved under the scheme in four districts of the state including Neemuch, Indore, Mandsaur and Agar Malwa. Unorganized labourers will have the facility to pay electricity bill at a flat rate of Rs 200 per month under the proposed Saral Bill Yojana. Seventy percent of the surcharge and remaining principle amount under the proposed Samadhan Yojana will be waived and remaining 30 percent will be paid in four installments. Consumers who opt to pay single installment under the scheme will get the benefit of 75 percent waiver and 25 percent payment. All three power distribution companies have developed an app to facilitate consumers. Consumer centres have been strengthened and complaints are being promptly redressed.
