Role of Cities’ Development is Important in Country’s Prosperity: President Kovind

Bhopal: President Ramnath Kovind has said economy of cities play an important role in the prosperity of the country. Smart City project has been started by the Government of India for the planned development of cities. A total of 100 cities are being developed as Smart City under the project. The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken a historic decision to develop Mini Smart Cities in the state to strengthen Smart City Project. This was said by the President Kovind in the programme held to include Guna city in the Mini Smart City list.

Moreover, President Kovind further mentioned that Madhya Pradesh is a prosperous state in the field of culture, bravery and music. It has abundance scope in the field of tourism. The state has made a remarkable progress in the field of agriculture during the last few years. The state is being honoured with Krishi Karman award constantly for better production in agriculture sector.

Sentimental attachment with Madhya Pradesh

The President said that the Madhya Pradesh government has been awarded for excellent work by the Union Government in the field of tourism. He mentioned that he has sentimental attachment with Madhya Pradesh. He has almost visited all the districts of the state. His elder brother resides in Guna. Shri Kovind stated that Madhya Pradesh is the birth place of Dr. Baba Sahab Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the constitution. Gwalior is karmasthali of the Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Besides this, Guna is also a karmabhoomi of Late Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia.

Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel has said that 7 cities of the state are included in the Smart City Project. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has decided to make 12 Smart Cities in the state and Guna city has been included in this. She mentioned that it is must for the residents of the city to become part of the development to make the city smart by changing their attitude.

Smt. Patel urged the citizens that people of all the sections of the society must come forward to eradicate malnutrition and serious illness like T.B. besides making their city a Smart City. She further said that all the public representatives and eminent citizens of the society must take a pledge that no children will remain malnourished. They should also adopt a malnourished child for this. Coordinated efforts should be made to eradicate T.B.

No stone will be left unturned for development of Guna

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the government will not left any stone unturned for the development of Guna. The city has been included in the Mini Smart City list. An amount of Rs. 282 crore will be spent by the government towards planned development to make Guna a smart city. He further said that works like better infrastructure development, restoration of historical places, greenery development, sanitation, environment conservation, urban development and livelihood will be undertaken under the Smart City Project.

Chouhan mentioned that strict laws have also been enacted by the state government in order to provide security to the girls. He stated that fees towards education of girls and boys will also be borne by the state government.

CM Chouhan further stated that water shortage has emerged due to less rainfall in the state. There is need to give special attention to save water and water conservation works. Moreover, plantation should be carried out in large number in the state with the participation of all.

In the beginning, Former Chief Justice R.C. Lahoti said that the first time after the independence, any President has visited Guna. It is a matter of pleasure. Mini Smart City will pave away for development of Guna. President Nagar Palika Rajendra Singh Saluja delivered a welcome speech. Minister for Higher Education Jaibhan Singh Pawayya and MLA Pannalal Shakya were also present on the occasion.

Invites Guna’s residents to Rashtrapati Bhavan

President Kovind said that Rashtrapati Bhavan is a heritage of the nation. If any resident of the city comes to Delhi, he/she should come to see Rashtrapati Bhavan.
