Dialysis facility available in all government district hospitals

Bhopal: Dialysis facility has been made available through outsource to free patients suffering from kidney ailments from monthly treatment at all government district hospitals in the state. Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to make dialysis facility available in all districts.
Dialysis facility is made available to patients from poor families free of cost. For patients belonging to the other category, Rs 500 per haemodialysis session is charged. In year 2017-18 about 1750 patients suffering kidney ailments were provided the facility through 53 thousand 566 haemdialysis sessions through dialysis units. This arrangement has been made to cope up with the increase in the number of patients suffering kidney related diseases in state. Dialysis facility has been provided in district hospitals.
The proper treatment of kidney diseases is very difficult. Earlier its treatment was possible only a few private hospitals in certain big cities of the state. Generally the patient has to undergo a haemodialysis session twice- thrice a week. With the facility being limited only to a few cities, patients would have to go frequently to big cities from their residence. Each haemodialysis session would cost Rs 1500-Rs 2000 per session apart from the expense of transportation. This way the patient on dialysis would have to spend atleast Rs 20,000-Rs 25,000 every month. With this facility being available in all district hospitals at minimum expense, it has given great relief to kidney patients.-Window To News
