State government to get Rs 1200 crore from sale of ‘Tendu Leaves’

Bhopal : Collection of around 22 lakh standard bags of Tendu leaves has been estimated in the year 2017 in the state. The state government will earn around Rs. 1200 crore from the sale of tendu leaves. An amount of about Rs. 500 crore will be distributed among the tendu leaves collectors as bonus.
Online applications have been invited to collect the estimated 22 lakh standard bags of tendu leaves till November 30. Approval of received tender rates has been granted by the inter-departmental committee formed under the chairmanship of the Forest Minister Dr. Gourishankar Shejwar.
The target for tendu leaves collection is 22 lakh standard bags. It has 937 lots for which tenders have been called. Tenders have been received for 926 lots. The inter-departmental committee has approved the tender received for 849 lots. The state government will get an amount of Rs. 1073.42 crore from the sale of these lots. Action towards tenders for the remaining 88 lots will be initiated in the next round.-WTN
