CM Chouhan meets Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today met the Union Minister of Agriculture, Radha Mohan Singh in New Delhi and thanked him for the assistance given for Rabi marketing in the price support scheme for gram, lentil and mustard. As a result of this cooperation, the biggest pulse procurement work has been possible so far in Madhya Pradesh. Chouhan informed the Union Minister about the production of bumper crops in the state and urged him to increase the purchase limit to 50 thousand metric tonnes. On the request of the Chief Minister, Union Minister, Shri Singh assured to increase the purchase limit to 17 lakh metric tonnes.

Chief Minister Chouhan told that Rs 5,000 crore is expected from Nafed. This amount should be released soon, because resentment is growing among farmers as they are not getting their due payment on time after procurement work.

Chouhan urged the Union Agriculture Minister to immediately provide the target for the procurement of summer moong of 100 lakh metric tonnes and 20 thousand metric tonnes of summer urad. He said that the summer moong and summer urad procurement should also be included under the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana. He demanded to set 50 percent share of states and 50 percent share of centre in the amount of expenditure under the scheme.
