Complaint related with more than one duplicate entries in electoral rolls found not correct

Bhopal: The complaint submitted by a political party on June 3 regarding voter lists of Madhya Pradesh was found not correct in investigation and physical verification. In the complaint, information regarding 26 lakh, 76 thousand 231 cases, were received. The cases were related with 91 assembly constituencies of 34 districts.

Each one voter was physically verified by BLO in door-to-door check in all 34 districts mentioned in the complaint. Total 20 lakh 34 thousand 172 voters, out of 22 lakh 60 thousand 158 voters, were found at house. In physical verification, one lakh 73 thousand 564 voters were found not registered in electoral rolls. Total 49 thousand 422 (ASDR) voters were found eligible for deletion in the electoral rolls in which 28 thousand 909 voters were absent and 11 thousand 716 dead and eight thousand 797 were found having double entries. Action is being taken as per the rules in this regard. Chief Electoral Officer Smt Saleena Singh gave this information today here.

According to Smt Saleena Singh, 90 percent voters were found residing at in concerned assembly area in physical verification and detailed investigation. Similarly, 7.81 percent voters were already not registered in electoral rolls. Only 2.19 percent voters were found fit for deletion which are absentee, transferred, dead or duplicate entries (ASDR). In this way, the complaint was found not correct on the basis of mere two or three standards in physical verification.

 The Chief Electoral Officer said that all the CDs received with the complaint were sent to the concerned districts and investigation and physical verification was carried out with fairness and transparency. Entire electoral staff was busy in this work during the last fortnight in the districts. For physical verification of voters mentioned in the complaint, collector and district returning officers got investigated polling booth centre-wise through electoral registration officers to BLO/BLO supervisors. Voters' signature and mobile number were taken in the physical verification. Voter's identity was checked on the basis of voter ID, Aadhar card or other ID proof in physical verification. Information about voters, who were not present, was collected after verification from head of family or local residents.

 Smt Saleena Salina Singh said that the said complaint was submitted on the basis of electoral rolls carrying electoral photo ID card published in January 2018, whereas updation is being made since January in the state. During the voters' list purification drive, names of absentee, transferred, dead voters and voters with duplicating entries - total 10 lakh 31 thousand 812 were removed.
