Micro irrigation to be facilitated on One lakh hectare land of Sehore district
Bhopal: The construction of Narmada-Parvati Link Project is being started under the important phase of ‘Narmada-Malwa Link’ according to the resolution of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The Chief Minister will performbhoomi-poojan of this ambitious micro irrigation scheme of Sehore district on July 17 at 12.00 noon at Block Headquarters Ashta during the large farmers’ convention.
Keeping in view the water problem of Malwanchal, which is becoming severe day by day, the Chief Minister took a resolution in the year 2011 to bring Narmada water in the basins of Kshipra, Gambhir, Parvati and Kalisindh rivers as a permanent solution to the problem. The Narmada Valley Development Authority is completing the Chief Minister’s campaign of Narmada-Malwa link in a phase manner. The success of Narmada-Kshipra-Simhastha Link Project was lauded at National and International level. Narmada-Malwa -Gambhir Link is progressing speedily towards its completion. In the next phase of this campaign, the construction of the first and second phase of the Narmada-Parvati Link is being started.
Under the first and second phase of the project, about 32.04 cumex water will be lifted about upto 295 meter height from the Indira Sagar reservoir. The first pumping station will be constructed near village Dharampuri of Kannod Tahsil. From this pumping station, water through other 3 pumping stations will be released in junction structure to be constructed at village Singarcholi of Ashta Tahsil. A total of one lakh hectare area of 187 villages of Ashta, Jawar and Icchawar tahsils of Sehore district will be irrigated under the scheme. As per the estimate, 144 M.W. electrcity will be consumed on water lifting. The estimated cost of the first and second phase of the Narmada-Parvati Link is Rs. 3 thousand 415 crore 30 lakh.
The special feature of the scheme is that 20 meter pressurised water through pipeline will be made available to farmers on each 2.5 hectare area. This will help farmers to avail benefit of micro irrigation system. Those villages and farms of Sehore district, which are situated at high ground geographically and are deprived of canal irrigation will get benefit of irrigation by this scheme.-Window To News
