Truck operators demand, “Implement GST on diesel”
JULY 20 (WTN) – From today onward, truck operators begin nationwide indefinite strike. Near about 95 lakh trucks have been stopped. The All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), the largest union of transporters, is on strike form 6am onward on its demands. The organization says that the strike will continue until their demands are not fulfilled.
The organization's demand is that diesel should be under the purview of GST. Transport owners say that the price of diesel should be reduced by decreasing the central and state taxes, as well as the price of petrol and diesel should be revised on every three months, not daily.
Not only this, the organization has demand that toll barriers should be free for transporters and there should be exempted from GST in third party insurance. About the toll barrier, the union says that they are not against toll tax, but they are against the functioning of its collection. According to the organization, there are many hurdles in it.
