Bhopal: Chairman of National Commission for Safai Karamcharis Manhar Valji Bhai Zala today reviewed the activities being undertaken in the state for safai karamcharis, at the Mantralaya. Chief Secretary Basant Pratap Singh said at the meeting that the state government is making constant efforts to improve lives of safai karamcharis and to make their work secure. Congratulating Indore and Bhopal for acquiring the first and second positions respectively in the Cleanliness Survey, Zala said that this achievement was made possible only due to the contribution of the safai karamcharis. Both the cities of the state are beautiful and their attraction has increased only due to cleanliness.
Commission Chairman Zala was informed that the entire cleanliness arrangements in the urban areas have been computerized. Jobs have been made available to Safai Karamcharis in this process. Accommodation is being provided to all the Safai Karamcharis under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. They have been linked to the Sambal Yojana also. To enable the next generation of Safai Karamcharis to take up other professions, discussion was held on providing necessary vocational training and providing financial assistance from banks. Zala directed the Labour Department to set up awareness camps to give information about rights and schemes being run by them for Safai Karamcharis.
Discussion was held during the meeting on establishing changing rooms at ward level and for provision of day duty from 8 am for female safai karamcharis taking into account their responsibility of sending children to school. The Commission was informed that arrangements of gum boots, gloves, face masks, jetting machine, vacuum emptier etc. have been made for the safety of the safai karamcharis. The Commission took stock of the provision of regular health check, insurance, provident fund, etc.
Detailed discussion was held on security, health, accommodation, education and possibilities of employment opportunities in other professions during the review meeting. Madhya Pradesh Rajya Safai Kamgar Ayog Chairman Jatashankar Karosiya, Principal Secretary Energy I.C.P. Keshari, Principal Secretary Home and Transport Malay Shrivastava, Principal Secretary Scheduled Caste Welfare Ajit Kesri, Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing Vivek Agrawal were present during the meeting.-Window To News
