Penal action to be taken if unauthorized distribution and possession of voters’ slips is found -Chief Electoral Officer

Bhopal: The Chief Electoral Officer V.L. Kanta Rao has informed that as per the directives of the Election Commission of India, candidates are required to submit affidavit in complete form at the time of nomination and moreover, the candidates are required to issue affidavit in print media as well as electronic media three times. They will have to mention clearly in the affidavit that there is a criminal case pending against them and have been convicted in any case.
According to the directives of the Commission, the distribution work of voters’ slips will be completed 5 days before the voting. The voter slip will also have a map indicating route to reach the polling centre. The BLOs will receive acknowledgment of the voters’ slips from the voters at the time of distribution. The Presiding Officers will keep list of such voters to whom voter slips would not be distributed. Possession of voter slips and its distribution by any unauthorised person will be considered as violation under the Representation of People Act 1951 and Indian Penal Code and a penal action will be taken against such person.
Moreover, Kanta Rao has informed that permission has been granted to 25 applications out of the total applications received by the MCMC for certification of advertisement and letters have been sent to the concerned political parties in connection to 10 applications.-Window To News
