Nutrition in Food Items Will Increase by Adding Nutrient Elements

Regional Seminar on Food-Fortification Held at Bhopal 

Bhopal : Adding micro nutrient elements in food items to make it fortified can prevent people from diseases like anaemia and rickets etc. Principal Secretary Health Gouri Singh said this in the regional seminar on ‘Food Fortification’ organised by Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) at Bhopal today.

The seminar was chaired by the Chairman of the FSSAI Ashish Bahuguna. Representatives of Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh, Maharashtra and Gujarat took part in the seminar.

Ashish Bahuguna mentioned that work should be carried out on the conclusion after obtaining advices from consumers, traders and implementing agency before the fortification of food items.

Principal Secretary Women and Child Development J.N. Kansotiya said that every positive initiative is welcome to eradicate malnutrition in the state.

Secretary School Education. Deepti Gaur Mukherjee said that malnutrition free children can perform best in education, sports and in activities to build their future.
Moreover Commissioner Health Dr. Pallavi Jain said that a work to add micro nutrient elements in food grains, oil and milk is being carried out in the country.

Necessary action will be initiated to implement it in the state.
Subject experts gave presentation on experiments conducted in food fortification field, experiences and on technical aspects in the programme. International organisations like Global Allowance on Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Micro Nutrition Initiative, C.H.A.I. etc. participated in the programme.
