“Dry day” declared 48 hours prior to end of polling

“Dry day” up to 3 km in border districts of neighboring states
Bhopal: The Election Commission of India has declared 'Dry Day' from 5 pm on November 26 to November 28 till the end of polling that is 48 hours before the scheduled time of voting to ensure free, fair and peaceful polling. At the same time, state governments of concerned states on the state border have also issued ban on liquor up to 3 km in bordering districts. This system will also be applicable on repolling days.
As per the Commission's orders, during this period, hotels, restaurants, bars, any public and private establishments as well as non-proprietary clubs, hotels, restaurants etcs and those who have the license to obtain and supply wine of different categories will also not be allowed to sell alcoholic beverages during 'Dry day' period. Spirited, fermented, liquid or narcotics, alcohol and substances of the same nature can neither be sold nor be distributed and prohibitory action will be taken in found in anyone’s possession.
Violation of the order will be liable to punishment up to 6 months or fine up to Rs 2000 or with both. Counting of Assembly election, 2018 on December 11 has also been declared a 'Dry day'.
In this connection, the Chief Electoral Officer has instructed all Collectors and District Election Officer to strictly follow orders related to 'Dry day'.-Window To News
