Urban school children to enjoy free jungle trip

Bhopal: Forest Minister Umang Singhar has instructed the Eco Tourism Board to take urban children on a free tour around the state’s Tiger Reserves, National Parks and sanctuaries too under the Anubhuti programme. Singhar said that initially choose one school each of Indore and Bhopal. He told to prepare further strategy based on this experience. Singhar said this during the review of Anubhuti programme released for the rural children recently. Additional Chief Secretary Forest K.K. Singh was also present.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Board, S. S. Rajput said that the Anubhuti programme is being conducted in the state from December 15, 2018 to January 15, 2019. Various activities are being undertaken to make children of government schools residing near the National Park, Tiger Reserves and sanctuaries sensitive towards forests, wildlife and the environment. In the camp which starts in the morning, apart from food arrangements for the children, they are taken on bird-wildlife watching, tour of natural surroundings and debates, cultural and other competitions are organized. This helps enhance awareness and sensitivity of children towards forests and wildlife. This year around 56thousand children are taking part in the Anubhuti programme in which disabled children are also included.
Forest Minister Singhar reviewed adventure sports, forestry activities, jobs to local persons in eco tourism, increasing basic facilities for tourists and activities in various eco tourism spots in the state.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) U. Prakasham, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Alok Kumar, Dilip Kumar and Pushkar Singh were also present during the meeting.-Window To News
