Land reforms commission’s first report presented to CM Chouhan

Bhopal: Chief Minister  Shivraj Singh Chouhan was presented a first report by the State Land Reforms Commission today.  Chouhan congratulated the Commission for this. The report consisted of situation related to the bhoodaan land besides bhoodaan land holders postions with future directions. Chief Secretary  B.P. Singh and Commission Chairman  I.S. Dani were present on the occasion.

It is informed that various methods related to bhoodaan have been studied by the commission. Also information from revenue officers, public representatives and advocates has been gathered by conducting tour of region.

Moreover it is informed that several big land holders had donated the agriculture lands at their own will getting inspired from Bhoodaan Andolan started by the Acharya Vinoba Bhave in the year 1951. Around 31 thousand 500 hectare land was received in the state through Bhoodaan. Under this 21 thousand 300 hectare land was donated to the landless people.

Commission has made several recommendations regarding compilation of database related to bhoodaan, to ensure utilisation of undistributed land and land holders. CM  Chouhan said that necessary steps will be taken on subjects pointed out by the Commission. Principal Secretary  Ashok Varnaval, Principal Secretary Revenue  Arun Pandey and Office Bearers of the Commission were present on the occasion.

It may be highlighted that State Land Reform Commission has been constituted by the state government to present recommendations after overall review of issues related to management of government and private lands of urban and rural areas.-WTN
