40 lakh persons became literate under Saakshar Bharat Yojana in State

Bhopal: Saakshar Bharat Yojana is undergoing in the state. Under the scheme, persons above 15 years age group are being imparted workable literacy. Efforts are on to achieve 80 percent literacy rate in the state. Forty lakh persons have been made literate under the scheme so far.
Around 26,000 motivators have been appointed at gram panchayat level in the state for execution of the literacy programme. Total 17 thousand 350 adult education centres are under operation in the state. Literacy classes are being held regularly through these centres. The scheme is operational in 31 ideal village of Member of Parliament. All these villages have been made complete literate. Public Education Committee is working to increase public participation in selected gram panchayat. Women are being motivated to participate in classes to increase women literacy rate in gram panchayats.-WTN
