Public Works Minister Verma reviews through video conference at Mantralaya
Bhopal: Public Works Minister Sajjan Singh Verma has issued directions to the department officials to ensure cent percent use of the budget allocated this year for the construction of government buildings in the state. He expressed dissatisfaction over the construction works that have not been started yet. Verma was reviewing the progress of the construction of government buildings all over the state through video conferencing at the Mantralaya. Principal Secretary Public Works Mohammed Suleiman was also present during the meeting.
Public Works Minister Verma said that delay in departmental construction works may adversely affect the image of the Public Works Department among the general public. Departmental officials should ensure that approved construction work begins on time and is completed on time. He said that the promises made in the manifesto are literally followed. He told officials that if the buildings constructed in the previous years by the department are not being maintained properly, then proposals for construction of multi-storeyed buildings there should be prepared on priority.
The officials were given instructions before the construction of the building, the site of the allotted for the construction of government buildings by the PWD should be tested in every aspect. Buildings should not be constructed at those places which cannot be used in the public interest. It was also instructed during the meeting that departmental officers should not initiate the process of tender in those works, for which land has not been allocated by the concerned department.
It was told during the meeting that a programme to complete construction of 1200 government buildings was prepared by PWD this year out of which construction of 500 buildings has been completed. Out of the approved works worth Rs 3 thousand crores, the department has completed works worth Rs 1800 crores so far. Works of school building, hostel buildings, health centre buildings, revenue and law department court buildings, ITI, Medical College building etc, are being undertaken all over the state.
Discussion was held particularly on the progress of construction work of the electronic voting machine godown at the meeting. Principal Secretary, Public Works also issued instructions to complete work plan of pending works of the previous years.-Window To News
