Record procurement of 20 lakh MT paddy by electronic weighing scales: Minister Tomar

Rs. 3634 crore deposited in farmers’ bank accounts using Just in Time software
Bhopal: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Pradhyuman Tomar has informed that a record has been set this time in the state by procuring more than 20 lakh MT paddy on support price. An amount of Rs. 3634 crore 69 lakh has been deposited in the bank accounts of 3 lakh 61 thousand farmers against the procurement. Procurement of paddy this year is highest in comparison to procurement of the last 6 years.

A glimpse on Paddy procurement

It is to be mentioned that 951 procurement centers for paddy have been made in the state by the state government. Paddy procurement work has been conducted by electronic weighing scales by the Civil Supplies Corporation and MARKFED. Tomar informed that amount against the paddy procured from the farmers at the rate of Rs. 1750 per quintal has been directly transferred in the bank accounts of the farmers by using ‘Just in Time’ software.
Tomar further informed that this year a record procurement of paddy has been made in comparison to the last 6 years. He said that 15 lakh 65 thousand MT paddy from 2 lakh 86 thousand in 2013-14, 12 lakh 3 thousand MT paddy from 2 lakh 34 thousand farmers in 2014-15, 12 lakh 65 thousand MT paddy from 2 lakh 43 thousand in 2015-16, 19 lakh 61 thousand MT paddy from 2 lakh 87 thousand farmers in 2016-17 and One lakh 65 thousand MT paddy from 2 lakh 82 thousand farmers in 2017-18 was procured. An amount of Rs. 2276 crore 25 lakh was paid to the farmers against the procurement.
