Record procurement of 21 lakh MT paddy in state: Minister Tomar

Bhopal: A record procurement of 21 lakh MT paddy on the support price has been set in the state. While informing about this, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Pradhuman Singh Tomar said that an amount of Rs. 3675 crore is being paid by the state government to the farmers against the procurement.

Minister Tomar said that an additional payment arrangement has been made by the state government to resolve the problem of payment being faced due to some technical reasons in Balaghat, Jabalpur and Seoni district. Under this, farmers are being paid through District Officers of the procuring agencies i.e. Madhya Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation and Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation in place of payment from Bhopal level. An amount of Rs. 200 crore to Balaghat district, Rs. 150 crore to Jabalpur district and Rs. 128 crore to Seoni district has been released for the payment. Payment in the bank accounts of the farmers will be deposited from February 15, 2019. Within the next few days, the payment will reach in the bank accounts of the farmers, he added.

Moreover, Tomar said that a sufficient amount is available with the procuring agencies, Madhya Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation and Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation for payment to the farmers. The amount will be transferred as per the daily requirement to the district offices from the state level.-Window To News
