Bhopal: A group of sadhus is accompanying the Namami Devi Narmade Seva Yatra from Amarkantak. As soon as the yatra reached Guradia village in Khandwa district, the villagers applied tilak on their foreheads and welcomed the yatra amidst the beat of drums. The sadhus accompanying the yatra were dancing merrily to the tune of the dhol-nagadas as they chanted the Narmada stuti. They were seen giving the message to villagers to not to use soap while taking a dip in the Narmada and also to not to wash clothes in it.
Sukli, who is accompanying the yatra from Salargori village in Anuppur is overwhelmed with the warmth of people welcoming the yatra in all the districts.Laudiing the Chief Minister, she says such a yatra should be organized once every year. Same way Yatra in charge Atmaram Ghisaji from Bhamori village of tehsil Bagli in Dewas district happily says arrangements in all districts are best but Khandwa district is very different and the arrangement here is number one.
Sant Khemchand Maharaj from Dindori district says Narmada Mai is pure and flows continuously and the efforts by the Chief Minister is worth praise. The zeal of the villagers is striking. Raising both her hands and chanting “Narmade Har” is 85-year-old Bhuriya Bai from Hoshangabad who feels that she is lucky to have got the opportunity to take part in the Narmada Yatra. Similarly, Sadhu Mangilalji of Dindori said it is most enjoyable to see saplings being planted on the banks of the river and we are witness to such a beautiful sight.
Sharing her experiences Sadhvi Yogmaya Didi, accompanying the yatra from Amarkantak said the intention of the yatra is very pure and our priority is to conserve the water of Narmada and to save it from pollution. The idea of tree plantation to boost greenery is also laudable. He said that I wish to thank the State’s Chief Minister for taking the initiative and making people aware. Today this yatra is not a yatra alone but has turned into a public movement. The yatra has passed through so many districts but plastic dona-pattal were not to be seen anywhere. Also the clay lamps were used for the aarti of Ma Narmada. This is giving a beautiful message not only to the state but also to the countrymen.
Among others dancing joyously during the yatra and giving message of conservation of Narmada water and to save it from pollution were Malthu of Dindori, Bhaglu from Harratola of Anuppur, Shobha Bai from Jara Surang Umaria etc.-WTN
