33 Temples and Memorials Coming Under Sardar Sarovar Project’s Submergence Restored

Bhopal: Directorate Archeology has undertaken the work to restore 33 Temples and Memorials coming under the submergence area of Sardar Sarovar Project. The work has been under taken in order to retsore, conserve the heritages beside study of ancient culture mainly Shiv Mandir- Chhoti Kasravad, Shiv Mandir-Roli Gaon, Narmadeshwar Mandir-Dehar, Kalenjshwar mandir –Somalda, Shankar Mandir-Kothda, Shiv Mandir-Harsud and Shiv Mandir –Dhari Kotla.
Shiv mandir constructed in 18th century in Nagar style was originally situated on the southern bank of Narmada River in village Chhoti Kasravad of district Badwani. The 30 feet long and 18 feet wide temple was constructed on 40 feet long and 30 feet wide platform on the bank of river Narmada. This Panchrathi temple is 36 feet high from its base. The temple structure has ardh mandap, mandap on four pillars, space and sanctorum. Shivling and Nandi are installed in sanctorum and mandap. Since the temple was coming under the submergence area of Sardar Sarovar Project, the temple has been shifted to new settlement of village Chhoti Kasravad.-WTN
