State’s 22 Thousand 300 Hectare Land of 16 Districts Selected for Horticulture Crops

High Quality Fruit Plantation Undertaken in 3062 Hectare
Bhopal: In order to double the farmers income per hectare till 2022, a fruit plantation scheme on private land has been launched in 16 districts in the radius of one kilometer on both the banks of Narmada River.
A programme has been made to undertake fruit plantation in 5 thousand hectare in the first year of the scheme i.e. 2016-17. Twenty two thousand 300 hectare land of 24 thousand 341 farmers of 16 districts have been selected for horticulture crops on both the banks of River Narmada. 5540 farmers after filling the pledge forms have already undertaken fruits plantation on 3062 hectare land till January 2017.
They have mainly planted the fruits plants like mango, guava, oranges, custard apple, ber (plum), chikoo (sapodilla) and pomegranate. A financial assistance of Rs. 20 thousand per hectare is being given to the beneficiaries under the horticulture scheme to compensate traditional crops for the first three years.-WTN
