Code of Conduct Should not be Mere Words but must be Assimilated in Behaviour

Governor Kohli Inaugurates Foundation Day of State Election Commission 

Bhopal: We all should make efforts that the Code of Conduct should not be remained mere words written in the books but must be assimilated in the behaviour of all and voters must feel it. Governor Om Prakash Kohli said this on the occasion of 23rd Foundation Day of State Election Commission.


Awards Presented
Governor Kohli presented awards to officers who have worked with excellence in photo based voters list and winners of the debate competition. He honoured Collectors Ujjain, Chhatarpur, Shajapur, Balaghat, Gwalior, Dewas, Shivpuri, Mandla, Chhindwara, Sagar, Damoh, Khandwa, Tikamgarh, Raisen, Ashoknagar, Singrauli and Annuppur. Moreover, Kohli also honoured the students of Institute for Excellence in Higher Education Sushri Isha Shastri, Akshit Devansh and students of N.L.I.U. Pradarsh Johri, Advaiya Vandopadhyaya, Rimsha Zafar and Aditi Nayak.

Governor Kohli said that the work of the commision is not just holding elections but it also has duty to eliminate obstacles arising in the way of election legally. He further mentioned that we have imbibed democracy in our lives as values of life. Public sentiments are reflected through ballot papers under this system.
Kohli informed that reference to democratic arrangements is found in Vedic era also. The chief of the village was called 'Gramin' in Rigveda. Gautam Buddha has told his disciple Anand that nobody can cause harm till 5 persons of the village will keep deliberating on welfare. Mahatmi Gandhi laid emphasis to strengthen panchayats. Governor Kohli appreciated the remarkable works carried by the State Election Commission.

Moreover, Kohli dedicated inscription 'Parivartano Evam Kirtimano Ki Shrankhala' in the Commission. Also film made on the same subject was exhibited during the occasion. Governor Kohli released Coffee Table Book of the Commission and collection of Judicial Decisions and inaugurated G.I.S. Portal and Mobile App.

Technology Used for Effeciency and Transparency

Commissioner State Election Commission R. Parshuram said that new technology has been used by the Commision to bring effeciency and transparency. He informed that 93 percent voting has been registered in civic bodies. He further mentioned that we have made efforts to follow the principles laid by the
Commissioners during the last 20 years. Moreover he said that the Governor had come first time in the Commission on January 12, 1995 and second time in 1997 and this is the third time.

Secretary Smt. Sunita Tripathi informed about the remarkable works undertaken by the Commission. The first Commissioner of the Election Commission N.B. Lohni informed about the establishment of Commission and procedures of general election before panchayats and urban bodies. Former Election Commissioner G.S. Shukla told that a rule to recall elected representatives was made during his tenure.
Moreover former Election Commissioner Ajit Raizada mentioned that logo of the Commission was designed during his work tenure.

Director General Police Rishi Kumar Shukla, other Senior Administrative Officers and Retired Officers were present on the occasion.-WTN
