Governor Kohli in Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Academy Award ceremony
Bhopal: Awarding literary persons, Governor Om Prakash Kohli today said that today's era is the era of change. Our literature and civilization is being suppressed. Youths are being taken away from literature, culture and civilisation by making attracted towards materialism. At this time, literary people will have to make their contribution in bringing the country out of challenges prevailed. The Governor presented state and all India literature awards to litterateurs.
Governor Kohli said that the programmes like 'Pathak Manch' of Sahitya Academy should be introduced in colleges and major educational centres in the state. He said that our literature is very great, the oldest and the credible. The contribution of many writers of our country, who had sacrificed in freedom movement, cannot be forgotten. Today I am pleased that the awards have been instituted on the name after the persons who were associated with the freedom movement somewhere.
Organization Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad Shridhar Paradkar said that good and education-giving literature attracts readers even today. The need is to promote good and education-giving literature. Paradkar said that literature is not only the mirror of society but it is an offering as well.
Principal Secretary Culture Manoj Shrivastava said that birthday of senior and predecessor litterateurs will be celebrated by Sahitya Academy. Shrivastava said that efforts are being made to give the awards regular and increase the cash prize. He said that collection of literature of good writers will be published. Principal Secretary to Governor Mohan Rao, Commissioner Culture Rajesh Prasad Mishra and Director Umesh Kumar Singh were present on the occasion. The award ceremony was organised by Sahitya Academy and Madhya Pradesh Sanskriti Parishad. Also literary persons and literature lovers were present in big number in the ceremony.-WTN
