Narmada Seva Yatra Accorded Grand Welcome at Alirajpur

 Bhopal: 'Namami Devi Narmade'-Seva Yatra begun from Sondwa of Alirajpur reached Sakdi on Sunday. Chairman Khadi Gramudhyog Board Suresh Arya said that we all have responsibility to keep Narmada River clean and to make it pollution free in a Jan-Sanvad programme held at village Sakdi and Umrath. Make efforts to make Maa Narmada clean and encourage others to do so. A campaign is being conducted for de-addiction and all should participate in this. Quit addiction and inspire others to quit this , he added.

MLA Nagarsingh Chouhan mentioned that there used to be trees in large numbers in areas beside Narmada river. This was the reason for good rains. There were more forest in ancient time and rains become more where there is dense forest. He further said that there was more rain in ancient time because of plentiful trees and rivers and runnels used to flow incessantly. Now we have to undertake plantation in large number to revive rivers and runnels. Make your area green by planting saplings on farm boundary and government land, he added. Chouhan told the villagers to construct toilets in their houses besides using them. This will make village clean and villagers will save medical expenses on several diseases which will improve their economic condition. Vice President Jan Abhiyan Parishad Pradeep Pandey also addressed the programme.

It may be mentioned that Narmada Service Committee comprising 20 members has been constituted by Pandey. Arjun Singh s/o Kulsingh has been made chairman of the committee. Programme was conducted by Ramanuj Sharma. Narmada Seva yatra reached Bakhatgarh covering Sirkhadi, Attha, Kosariya, Chhinki, Umri and Tharwata. Plantation was undertaken at village Attha and Kosariya. Moreover, yatra was accorded grand welcome from place to place. Kalash yatras were set out by the girls and enchanting tribal dances in colourful attires were presented.

Guests carried out plantation in hostel campus at Sakdi. Jila Panchayat President Smt. Anita Chouhan, District Coordinator Jan Abhiyan Parishad Prem Singh Chouhan, Officers of the government departments, Yatris and villagers in large numbers were present on the occasion.-WTN
