Selected Public Service Commission Officials Visit State Museum

Bhopal: One hundred and fourteen newly-appointed Deputy Superintendents of Police and Commercial Tax officials selected from Public Service Commission visited the 17 art galleries of the State Museum situated at Shyamla Hills.
The officials were overwhelmed to see the prehistoric and fossils, excavated material, stone and metal statues, royal records, artworks of Nawab era, freedom struggle records, manuscripts, miniature paintings, mudras and arms etc. displayed at the museum. The Museum has exhibited the state's art and culture beautifully.
The officials not only saw the ancient statues of Shiva, Uma-Maheshwar, Lakuleesh, Vishnu-Saraswati, Jain Teerthankar's but also acquired information about its history. They also took interest in the Costume gallery where the costumes of Begums, kasidakari, small pictures of Ramayan, Mahabharat and Krishnaleela besides mudras popular in ancient times were displayed.
Deputy Director State Museum Dr. Geeta Sabherwal told them about the special characteristics of artworks displayed at the museum. After the tour the officials said that it is due to the efforts being made to preserve the state's archaeological heritage that such rare artworks are still available at the museum. The officials expressed their gratitude to Commissioner Archeology Anupam Rajan for initiating their visit to the museum.-WTN
