WTN- What can be seen as a major boost for the tourism sector of Madhya Pradesh apart from a fillip to the glamour quotient, the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) 2020 is going to be hosted in the state – in Bhopal and Indore – next month, in an extravagant show of Bollywood excellence  in its full tinsel glory.

The show will be anchored by none other than ‘local boy’ superstar Salman Khan, along with Ritesh Deshmukh. No doubt a host of other celebrity dignitaries will make the state their home for the few days of the marquee award show that is internationally renowned for feting the best of the best in the film business. This is for the first time that the award ceremony is being held at a Tier 2 city and the only Indian city after Mumbai, where it was held in 2019. The award started for the first time in 2000 and the first event was held in London, followed by different cities of the world in subsequent years like Dubai, Macau, Sun City, Columbo etc. This annual ceremony has come up as a great way to connect the fraternity of Hindi film lovers across the world. Bhopal-Indore being on the IIFA map is a matter of pride and glory for the state that will be etched in the history of the film industry as well as MP’s cultural mapping.

Madhya Pradesh’s romance with films is not new. Several famous film personalities are from Indore or other parts of the state including Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Salman Khan, Javed Akhtar, Ashutosh Rana, Jaya Bachchan, Palak Muchhal and Kartik Aryan to name a few. Madhya Pradesh has been one of the hotspots of Bollywood shootings over the last several years with several acclaimed directors repeatedly choosing the state’s exotic locales for their films. The government too in the past has extended all facilities of stay and logistics to promote Bollywood’s love for MP.

The connection is strong and varied. Thus, MP is an apt destination for holding the awards function that celebrates Bollywood’s creative and technical excellence. Events of such global stature that is seen by millions of people across the world on their TV sets, generates positive opinions about a people and their hospitality and brings them under the limelight. This will ensure not only greater interest and involvement of Bollywood but also of tourists who would see the state in a new light.

This will lend MP an opportunity to spruce up its facilities and cash in on the new interest generated out of the event as a result of ample media coverage and positive word of mouth with thousands of people flocking to enjoy the high-profile ceremony. The challenge now is to put up a great show and use the opportunity to give the right impetus to film and tourism in the state. - Window to News
