Jila and Janpad Panchayat Presidents’ Tenure to be extended

CM Chouhan holds discussions with Panchayats’ delegation 
 
Bhopal 17 April 2020: The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the state government has decided to extend the tenure of the Presidents Jila and Janpad panchayats. While holding discussions with a delegation of the Jila and Janpad Panchayats’ Presidents at CM House, Chouhan informed that the increase in the tenure of Panchayat representatives will be for the period till the next elections.

The Chief Minister said that these representatives serve as an important link between the administration and the public. He said that it is not possible to hold elections in the current situation caused by Coronavirus. Keeping in view the responsibility of the representatives of rural areas in this time of crisis, their tenure needs to be extended. This will enable them to work freely with coordination between the public and the administration. Chouhan said whether it is helping people in lockdown or to make the people aware, the responsibility of thepublic representatives becomes even more important.

Chouhan said that after April 20, some restrictions will be relaxed in line with the guidelines of the Government of India. In areas that do not fall within the periphery of hotspots and containment, works like MNREGA to give employment to labourers and other small construction works will be started. It will also speed up the economy. Chouhan further said that our public representatives will play a vital role in accelerating all these activities. People's representatives will also be able to help the state get out of the Corona crisis.

MLA- Rahli Gopal Bhargava, Jila Panchayat President Vidisha Toran Singh Dangi, Jila Panchayat President Raisen Dr. Anita Jaiprakash Kirar, Jila Panchayat President Panna Raviraj Singh Yadav and Janpad President Rahli Sanjay Dubey were present on the occasion. Window to News
