CM Chouhan inquires about facilities being provided to consumers

Bhopal 4 May 2020: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan sought information about the facilities being provided to the power consumers of the state in a meeting held in Mantralaya today. Additional Chief Secretary Energy Mohammad Suleman presented the details of the facilities being provided to the consumers in a presentation.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that despite adequate availability of electricity in the state, energy conservation is very important. Farmers who use drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation etc. should be given concession for their contribution in saving electricity. Chief Minister Chouhan instructed to propose a plan in this connection. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the economically weaker section of the society should definitely get full benefits of reduction in power tariff.

Today, in order to give benefits to those facing financial crisis due to Corona and needy people of the society on priority, even the affluent class should give up benefits which they do not need. Just as many people belonging to the affluent class have foregone the LPG subsidy, it can be initiated in other areas as well.

Discussion was held in the meeting, regarding bringing the needy domestic electricity consumers within the ambit of the Sambal Yojana which has been resumed, while expanding its scope. Apart from this, Chief Minister Chouhan gave instructions to the officers to propose essential benefits on the basis of the area of ​​land of farmers or land holders in rural areas. Chief Minister Chouhan said that Sambal Yojana has been implemented as an important scheme for welfare of the poor.

Under this scheme, power consumers who are actually facing financially problems today and their problems have increased due to Corona should also be considered. Providing benefits to this section of society will help them in getting out of this period of crisis. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains instructed the Energy Department to prepare a pilot project in this regard. Window to News
