‘Jal-Van-Narmada-Bhopal’ Awareness Campaign from March 19 to 22

Massive Public Awareness Rally on March 19 

Bhopal: A ‘Jal-Van-Narmada-Bhopal’ public awareness campaign would be organized from March 19 to 22 by State Bio-diversity Board in view of the ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ –Narmada Seva Yatra and Sustainable Development Goals– 2030 on International Forestry Day (March 21) and World Water Day (March 22). All government, non-government departments, institutions and citizens managing and using water resources will take part in the campaign. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would inaugurate the campaign with a massive rally on March 19 at 8.30 in the morning at T.T. Nagar Stadium Bhopal.

Member Secretary State Bio-diversity Board R. Shrinivas Murty said that nearly 5,000 people would take part in the rally. Participants can register online. Detailed information of the programme is available on www.mpsbb.nic.in. General public, college and school students, representatives of government departments and institutions and people’s representatives would be taking part in the rally.

This year ‘Forest and Energy’ and ‘Waste water’ are the themes for the International Forestry Day and World Forest Day respectively. Water and Forest are mutually related. To highlight this, the International Forestry Day is celebrated on March 21 and World Water Day is celebrated on March 22. The Narmada Seva Yatra is going on in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to make the Narmada river pure and incessant. Similar ideas have been underlined in the Simhastha-2016 Sarvabhouma Amrit Sandesh also.

Seventeen goals of the Sustainable Development Goals - 2030 adopted by the Government of India Niti Aayog, focus on the same. Among the goals, Goal No. 6 on availability of water and cleanliness for all, ensuring sustainable management, Goal No. 13 on Climate Change and Goal No. 15 on conservation of terrestrial ecology system stresses on inclusion and ascertaining these ideas.-WTN
