Briefs about steps taken forward in respect to Women Empowerment in state
Bhopal 13 May 2020: The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid a visit to the Governor Lalji Tandon at Raj Bhavan today. Chouhan briefed the Governor about the efforts being made in respect to the women empowerment in the state during the corona pandemic. He presented a packet of cotton masks manufactured by the women of the state under the Jeevan Shakti Yojana and said that women of 51 districts are producing cotton masks under the scheme.
The Governor Tandon was apprised by Chouhan that the main objective of the Jeevan Shakti Yojana is to provide employment at home to the women of urban areas of the state during the corona pandemic and to make cotton masks available to masses for the protection from Covid-19. He further informed that he interacted with the women of urban areas on April 25 and as per their aspirations the scheme has been formulated. The scheme has received wide response from the women. During the first hour of the launch of the scheme, 463 women registered themselves under the scheme.
Moreover, Chouhan said that a very simple system has been made for the registration under the scheme; one can also register herself over the phone. An order for 200 masks per woman is placed directly to all the women by the centralized computer. A very simple system of delivery and receipt of masks has been made at the urban body level. As soon as the masks are received, the amount is immediately transferred to the women's account at the rate of Rs. 11 per mask. Chouhan informed Tandon that so far about 6 lakh 20 thousand masks have been received. A total of Rs. 66 lakh has been deposited to the bank accounts of 3148 women.
