Chief Minister Chouhan took a Meeting related to Skill and Employment
Bhopal 26 May 2020: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that 10 to 13 lakh labourers are expected to return to the state because of reverse migration due to Corona crisis. To provide work to unskilled labourers, Shram Siddhi Abhiyan has been started in the state. Do short term and long term planning to provide skilled labourers according to their merit. For this, ‘employment bridge’ should be made. With this skilled workers and employers should be added.
Chief Minister Chouhan was taking a meeting in the Mantralaya today regarding the proposed changes in the field of skills and employment in the state after Covid-19. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Technical Education Caralyn Khongwar Deshmukh, Principal Secretary Deepali Rastogi, Principal Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajaura, Principal Secretary Sanjay Shukla were present in the meeting.
Provide Immediate Work
Chief Minister Chouhan said that a short term plan should be prepared to provide immediate work to skilled migrant labourers. Under this, data should be called from panchayats. There, skilled workers should be employed in construction, enterprise etc.
Long Term Planning, Build Platform
Chief Minister said that under Long Term Planning, information of skilled labourers and information of industries and constructors should be made available on a platform, through which skilled labourers should be provided to industries and constructors as per their requirement. In this, role of the MSME is important.
Overseas Labourers Skill Register and Portal
Chief Minister Chouhan directed that skill register of migrant labourers should be made panchayat wise, in which information related to their skills and other information should be recorded. Also, a portal should be made for this and information on it should be recorded. This information should be made available to the employers. Under the information, educational qualification, pre-employment, pre-pay, pre-employer, skill, expected monthly salary and the sector in which the labourer is willing to work should be mentioned.
Migrant Labourers
It was told that due to Corona, more than 6.5 lakh migrant labourers have returned to Madhya Pradesh so far. Their number is estimated to go up to 13 lakh. Out of these, 5 lakh 45 thousand laborers have been brought by the transport facility provided by the state government. Among the districts where more migrant labourers have returned, the maximum 99 thousand 508 in Alirajpur, 97 thousand 620 in Balaghat, 67 thousand 261 in Guna, 28 thousand 406 in Panna, 20 thousand 624 in Jhabua and 20 thousand 182 in Barwani labourers have returned. The number of labourers returning in these districts is 52 percent of the state.
Major work areas of migrant labourers
Migrant labourers mainly work in building and other construction work, brickyard mining, factory, textile, agriculture and related activities. These labourers mainly go to Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Karnataka and Rajasthan – Window to News
