114 Divyang couples tied in nuptial knot under one roof in Betul

Bhopal: Betul created history on Sunday. Total 114 Divyang couples were tied in nuptial knot amid chanting of vedic mantras and music tunes with support from public representatives, district administration and social workers of the city. Ritual of 'Kanyadan' was carried out. The event has been registered as mass marriage ceremony of the highest number of Divyang couples by Delhi based Golden Book of World Records. Agency's record manager Rakesh Vaidya gave certificate to register the event as world record.

 Celebrating environment was in entire city on Sunday for mass marriage ceremony. Women associated with social organisations recited Mangal Gans and Geets. The marriage procession of Divyang youths, stayed in Dadawari marriage house of the city, was taken out with bands and fire show to Police Parade Ground - marriage venue. Relatives and family members of bridegrooms danced on beats of drums and bands.
 Lamp was lit as per the ritual before beginning of marriage ceremony. Members of Gayatri pariwar started marriage ceremony with chanting mantras. After the wedding rituals, it was time for send-off. Not only relatives and parents of grooms had wet eyes but, public representatives, officers and social workers too felt pain of giving adieu to girl. All took the Doli of brides on their shoulders. On the occasion, Rs 50,000 cash in case of being Divyang one of the couple and Rs one lakh in case of both being Divyang was given from the state government. Apart from this, bed, blanket, utensils, ration, trolley bag, dustbin, watch and other gift items were given to couple.

District panchayat president Surajlal Jawarkar wished all couple to be happy and healthy. MLA Hemant Khandelwal described the mass marriage ceremony as holy work. One Amala and one Munga sapling were given to couple from woman-child development department in the programme.-WTN
