Villages Located on Banks’ of Narmada River to be made Free from Open Defecation

CM Chouhan at Village Mandi of Nasrullahganj 

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that villages located on both the banks of Narmada River will be made free from open defecation. He further mentioned that Narmada river is a sacred river which provides water for drinking and irrigation besides electricity. Chouhan said this in village Mandi of Nasrullahganj today. He was adressing the Jan-Sanvad programme of ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ Seva Yatra. Pandit Kamal Kishore Nagar, Prominent Citizens and Dharmagurus were present. Smt. Anuradha Podwal presented devotional bhajans in the programme.

CM Chouhan menioned that plantation will be carried out on both the banks of Narmada River spreading awareness in the society. Moreover, awareness among the people will be generated to prevent pollution in Narmada river caused by immersing poojan material. He said that we cannot imagine the exitence of universe without water. The entire state is indebted to Narmada river. With the blessings of Narmada river, our state’s agriculture growth rate stands at top today. Narmada Seva Yatra has been started with an objective to pay off this debt.

Moreover, Chouhan said that Narmada water is being provided to the houses. This will eliminate water problem in many places. Narmada flow has become weakened as we have felled trees on the banks of river. We will atone our mistakes planting trees on one thousand k.m. limit on the banks of River Narmada. We will get the registration done of all the social organisations to plant trees.

Chouhan said that he himself will plant saplings of fruit bearing trees in his home village Jait. Chouhan administering pledge to the people towards de-addiction said that all the liquor shops on the banks of river Narmada will be closed down from April 1. De-addiction campaign will be condcuted in all the villages. He further said that Narmada Seva Yatra has become a public movement. All the sections of the society and Sadhu-Sants are participating in yatra.

Pandit Kamal Kishore and other prominent citizens also addressed the programme. Folk dance was presented by the girls in the programme. Smt. Sadhna Singh, Minister for Public Works Rampal Singh beside other senior officers were present on the occasion.

Large number of people emerged to welcome the world biggest and unique river conservation campaign ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ Seva Yatra which started in the morning from village Chhipaner chanting slogans glorifying Narmada river when it reached village Mandi of Nasrullahganj covering Choursakhedi, Satdev, Tigali and Silkothi villages.-WTN
