Urban Street Vendors to get interest free loan
CM Chouhan holds meeting on ‘P.M. Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi’
Bhopal 20 June 2020: The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that we have to make small businessmen of urban areas self-reliant. The ‘Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi’ scheme launched to provide loan to the street vendors for self-employment will prove helpful in this work. An interest subsidy of 7 percent is being given by the Government of India, the remaining subsidy will be given by the state government. In this way, the urban street vendors will be able to get interest free loan of Rs. 10 thousand without guarantee from banks.
The Chief Minister Chouhan held meeting in connection to the P.M. Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi at Mantralaya today. The Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Shrivastava, Principal Secretaries Manoj Govil, Nitesh Vyas, Sanjay Shukla, Deepali Rastogi and other officers were present at the meeting.

The Chief Minister Chouhan said that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the most affected sections in the urban area have been street vendors, their livelihoods were adversely affected during the lockdown period. To restart their livelihood and strengthen the economy, the Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi has been announced by the Prime Minister. Madhya Pradesh is a pioneer in the implementation of the scheme and registration of urban street vendors has also been done in large number by starting 'Mukhya Mantri Shahri Asangathit Kamgaar Ekikrat portal' in the state.

Over 2.50 lakh registrations in all 378 urban bodies
For the implementation of the scheme, registration of 2 lakh 71 thousand 801 street vendors in all 378 urban bodies of the state has been done on the 'Mukhya Mantri Shahri Asangathit Kamgaar Ekikrat portal'. This includes 30 percent vegetable vendors, 9 percent textile vendors, 8 percent fruit vendors and 7 percent food items vendors. Registration work is underway. People who were street vendors before March 24, 2020 will be able to get loans under this scheme.
Scheme should not get stuck in procedures
