80 thousand hectares of land in 272 villages will be irrigated
Water will also be available for industrial and drinking purpose
Bhopal 4 July 2020: In the meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Sanwer Lift Micro Irrigation Project of Rs 2358.75 crores was approved. Chief Minister Chouhan issued instructions to start the work of the project after completing the necessary procedures of the irrigation project. Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat and Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains were present in the meeting.
Chief Minister Chouhan told that 65 thousand hectares of 182 villages of Indore district, 13 thousand hectares of 80 villages of Khargone district and 2 thousand hectares of 10 villages of Ujjain district will be irrigated through the Sanwer Lift Micro Irrigation Project.
A pressurized piped canal system will be built to provide irrigation facility in villages benefiting from the Omkareshwar reservoir. A total of 31 cumec of water will be lifted for the project, in which there is provision for 1.50 cumec water for drinking purpose, 1.50 cumec water for industrial use apart from 80 thousand hectare area for irrigation. A total of 0.285 MAF of water will be utliized in the project – Window to News
