Jagrukta Abhiyan’s Workshop under Jal-Van-Narmada-Bhopal Concluded
Bhopal: Two day long workshop on ‘Samagra Shasan Ki Aur Jagrukta Abhiyan’ based on Jal-Van-Narmada-Bhopal begun from March 19 came to end today. Assembly Speaker Dr. Sitasaran Sharma was the Chief Guest and Minister for Forest Dr. Gourishankar Shejwar presided over the concluding session. Several conclusions were emerged during the session like water budgeting in cities for future generation, to establish balance with nature, to declare rivers of state a living entity like Ganga-Yamuna. Bio-diversity capacity of land and to protect land fertility etc.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Sharma said that participation of all the sections of the society is must in the efforts towards nature conservation. ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ is a significant effort being launched to conserve nature.
Minister for Women and Child Welfare Smt. Archana Chitnis mentioned that soil is losing its fertility due to use of chemicals. Soil takes 500 years to get back its natural fertility. The farmers of Punjab are forced to migrate today due to this only. It is need of the time to save biodiversity and fertility of soil. Also take measures to recharge water resources beside using them.
Renowned Narmada Expert and Litterateur Amritlal Vegad said that people normally save the capital and spent interest earn over it. However, at present, we are destroying the capital which is being given by nature, this will create a huge problem for coming generation. There is a need to protect nature from today itself.
Member Secretary of Bio-Diversity Board Shriniwas Murty informed that recommendations have been made to strengthen bio-diversity societies beside encouragement to bio-farming and to include it in the school curriculum. Four books focusing bio-diversity were released in the programme.
Additional Chief Secretary Forest Deepak Khandekar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Dr. Animesh Shukla, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wild Life) Jitendra Agarwal and Managing Director State Forest Development Corporation Ravi Shrivastava were present on the occasion.-WTN
