Take Permanent Measures to prevent Jalkumbhi growth in Narmada River

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed the officials to take measures for preventing Jalkumbhi (Hyacinth) growth in Narmada river. Chouhan has issued directives to remove jalkumbhi on war footing making an action plan and to take permanent measures to eliminate causes of its growth.
CM Chouhan held meeting today in this regard and directed the officers for permanent solutions to maintain complete cleanliness in Narmada River. He said that works to keep Narmada water clean and pure should be undertaken in coordination of departments like Panchayat and Rural Development, Urban Development, Water Resources, Narmada Valley Development and Home Guard etc. He further mentioned that Maa Narmada is not only a center of reverence for the people of the state but it is foundation of progress of the state. It is the prime responsibility of every individual to make it’s water clean and incessant.
Chief Secretary B.P. Singh stated that jalkumbhi is growing where water flow on Narmada is slow and work has been started to remove it. Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development R. S. Julaniya, Additional Chief Secretary Home K.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Narmada Valley Development Rajnish Vaish, Commissioner Agriculture Production P.C. Meena, D.G. Home Guard V.K. Singh, Principal Secretary Urban Development Malay Shrivastava, Principal Secretary Water Resources Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary to CM Vivek Agarwal and other officers were present in the meeting.-WTN
