Environment Conservation is Must along with Physical Development-CM Chouhan

Narmada Conservation Campaign is Commendable Initiative-Sunita Narayan 
Yatra Reaches Bandrabhan of Sehore District 

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that complete natural wealth has been posed to danger felling trees in unscientific ways. Narmada Seva yatra is a gentle effort to save the world creating balance with the nature. Efforts are being made to bring activists, institutions and organizations active for rivers’ conservation with different approaches on one platform and to execute their experiences and thoughts through Narmada seva yatra. Initiative to conserve river has been taken in the state at the right time. River conservation campaign is getting active cooperation from all the sections of the society. This concern will make Narmada to flow incessantly. The way all the sections of the society are participating in yatra, it reflects the concern of the society towards water conservation. CM Chouhan was addressing the Jan-Sanvad programme at village Bandrbhan of Sehore district on arrival of Narmada Seva Yatra. Renowned Environmentalist and Director Science and Environment Center-New Delhi Padamshri Smt. Sunita Narayan and public representatives were present in the programme.
CM Chouhan said that time has come now to make Narmada free from pollution and to make changes in our pooja methods. Do not dispose off poojan material, things made up of PoP besides other material which pollute Narmada water. Chouhan urged the Sant Community to use their religious power to make people desert such activities in religious activities so that people quit Jal-Samadhi practice. Consecration of Narmada should be done by Narmada water only. The state government will render help wherever it is necessary, he added.

Moreover, Chouhan told the farmers that Forest and Horticulture departments will undertake plantation on government land but farmers should carry out fruits bearing plantation on their lands to offer ‘Green Chunri’ to Narmada River. A compensation of Rs. 20 thousand per hectare will be provided to the farmers till trees start bearing fruits. Also 40 percent subsidy will be provided for undertaking plantation and wages towards digging pits will be given.
Renowned Environmentalist Smt. Sunita Narayan said that Madhya Pradesh is fortunate to have Chief Minister like Shivraj Singh Chouhan who is conducting yatra to spread awareness among the citizens for environment and river conservation. She mentioned that people become aware about the environment conservation usually when rivers become dead or destroyed and pollution reached to dangerous level. Smt. Narayan further mentioned that whenever physical development takes place, it causes harm to the environment and rivers. There is a need for environment conservation today beside physical development.

Kalashs of various rivers from Sheopur, Gwalior and Dimni were enshrined with Narmada yatra kalash in the programme.-WTN
