Prepare concrete policy within a week for waste disposal in cities

Bhopal 24 August 2020:  Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh expressed displeasure over the slow pace in solid waste management for disposal of garbage in cities. He instructed to prepare a concrete policy within a week for the processing of waste in other bodies apart from 109 urban bodies included in the seven clusters. Setting up of small solid waste processing plants may be considered in urban bodies as per requirement. Singh said that it must be ensured that there is no garbage heaps anywhere in the cities under any circumstances.

Singh said that action should be taken soon in respect of clusters, for which tenders have been called for solid waste management. Work has started only in Sagar and Katni out of the seven clusters. He said that necessary action should be taken within 7 days for starting plant in Gwalior. Singh said that if there is negligence at the municipal level, then action should be taken against the officer concerned. He said that the decision regarding Neemuch and Khandwa cluster should also be taken within a week. Rewa plant should be started within one and a half month.

Singh sought information about the ‘Gandagi Bharat Chhodo Madhya Pradesh’ campaign. He said that ranking of the cities must be done properly in the campaign. Daily reports regarding the campaign in cities must be obtained.

Make action plan to complete Amrut scheme work

Urban Development and Housing Minister Singh said that a city-wise action plan should be chalked out and reviewed constantly to complete all the works of Amrut Yojana by March-2022. Payment for the works must also be made in time. He said that tenders should be cancelled in places where the action are not being taken in time for transportation within the city. While reviewing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Singh said that the work of incomplete houses should be completed soon.

Indore master plan will be ready in four months

Singh said that the process for making master plans of cities for which master plans have not yet been made should paced up. Commissioner Town and Country Planning informed that the master plan of Indore will be ready in the next four months. Singh gave instructions to complete the survey work of property tax of cities. Regarding the auction of unused land of urban bodies, he told to consider giving the right of auction to the urban bodies.
Singh told to speed up the process of formation of Metro Rail Company. He said that there should be no negligence in the Metro rail work. Commissioner Urban Administration and Development Nikunj Kumar Shrivastava, Commissioner Town and Country Planning Ajit Kumar and other officials were present at the meeting – Window to News
