CM Chouhan inaugurates All India Poets Meet on Hindu New Year

Bhopal: Shivraj Singh Chouhan today took part in a poets meet at local New Market on the occasion of Hindu New Year Gudi Padwa. Karmashri Sanstha has been organising cultural programmes every year on Hindu New Year since 15 years. Well-known poets read out their poems at the meet.
After the inauguration, Chouhan honoured well-known Songwriter Santosh Anand, Poet Satyanarayan Sattan and other poets. On the occasion, the Karmashri Sanstha felicitated the Chief Minister.New Market Vyapari Sangh welcomed the Chief Minister. Photographer Govind Chourasia presented a collection of Narmada Seva Yatra photographs to Chouhan.
In his address, the Chief Minister said India is a great country with great cultural traditions.He said that India respects all ideologies.Talking about Narmada Seva Yatra, he said that it has become increasingly important to save our rivers. The Britishers dirtied our rivers and went away. The campaign of plantation of saplings on both sides of the Narmada would begin in the new year. Sapling plantations would be done simultaneously on coming July 2. All liquor shops would be closed downalong the banks of the Narmada from April 1. Campaign against liquor would begin in the entire state. He administered the oath to protect the honour of daughters and keep the society free of addictions. The Chief Minister said that a bill would be passed to punish rapists by hanging. The proposal would be sent to the Centre for its approval.
Rameshwar Sharma said that the Chief Minister has brought about significant development in the state of Madhya Pradesh. He said that Narmada was the identity of Madhya Pradesh. He said that the Chief Minister had resolved to save daughters and the Narmada.
MLA Surendra Nath Singh, Bhopal Development Authority Chairman Om Yadav, former Mayor Smt. Krishna Gaur and all religious leaders were present on the occasion.-WTN
