Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the preparations regarding installation of statue of pioneer of mass movement of cultural unity Adi Shankracharya. A large statue of Adi Shankracharya will be installed in Omkareshwar. Metal for 108 feet tall statue being constructed from Ashtdhatu (Eight Metals) will be collected from house to house. A wide campaign to collect metal will be conducted in the month of June. Moreover, Acharya Shankar Diwas will be celebrated on May 1 in the state.
CM Chouhan said that Adi Shankracharya is an icon of Indian Cultural unity. Metal will be collected from houses for public participation in the making of statue. He mentioned that metal given in any form should be collected. Sants participation would be sought to select the place for installation of statue.
It was informed in the meeting that the statue will be 108 feet tall. Cooperation in both the forms, cash or metal will be accepted. Acharya Shankar Jayanti will be celebrated on May 1 on the occasion of Acharya Shankar Prakatya Panchami.
Basic cultural unity of entire India will be underlined through values and contribution of Acharya Shankar in Bhartiya Ekta. Also, Run for Cultural Unity, Essay, painting and slogan writing competitions will be organized.
Public Trust will be constituted in the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister for implementation of the campaign. Renowned social activists in the field of Bhartiya Gyan and philosophy will be made trustee members. Public Trust Advisory Board will be established. The metal collection work will be carried out till June 30.
Principal Secretary Culture Manoj Shrivastava, Principal Secretary to CM Ashok Varnval, Principal Secretary Public Relations S.K. Mishra, Deputy Secretary to CM Neeraj Vashishtha and OSD Manish Pandey were present in the meeting.-WTN
