Senior Citizens Welfare Commission Annual Report Presented to CM Chouhan

Review of Action by Departments on Commission’s Recommendation 

Bhopal: The annual report of Madhya Pradesh State Senior Citizens Welfare Commission was today handed over to the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at the Mantralaya. Commission Chairman V.G Dharmadhikari, Vice Chairman Vibhishan Singh and Commission Member Gopal Krishna Godani were also present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that an agency will be made for the monitoring of the implementation of the various recommendations of the Commission. The action taken by the various departments on the recommendations of the Commission will be reviewed. He said that centrally sponsored schemes for senior citizens should be implemented effectively in the state. The day-care centres being run for the senior citizens should be linked to the Happiness Department activities.

Commission Chairman Dharmadhikari informed that 488 recommendations related to 40 departments were made by the Commission based on which the departments released 434 orders. Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to have constituted the Senior Citizens Welfare Commission. The Commission awarded the best Old Age Homes and Day Care Centres in the state. A workshop related to Maintenance Act and a state level conference of Day-Care Centres was organised by the Commission. In a special initiative by the Commission, 403 senior citizens from old age homes were taken for Simhastha Snan.

Chief Minister Chouhan was entrusted with a book of collections of orders-instructions issued by various departments on the Commission’s recommendations. Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Ashok Vernawal and Commissioner Social Justice Smt. Neelam Shamirao were also present on the occasion.-WTN
