Rotavirus Vaccination Begins to Protect Children from Deaths caused by Dysentery Vaccination to take place with Regular Vaccination

Bhopal: Rotavirus vaccine was inaugurated from April 3, 2017 to protect children from dysentery. Rotavirus vaccine protects children from dysentery caused by rotavirus. Rotavirus dysentery may cause death among the children. 3 doses of rotavirus within 6 weeks, 10 weeks and 14 weeks after the birth will be given to the child. This dose will be given with pentavalent dose during regular vaccination.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Veena Sinha has told that training of rotavirus vaccine has already been imparted to the health workers of Bhopal. This vaccine will be started with the dose of pentavalent-1 dose. Also, vaccine will be given with the second and third dose of the pentavalent. Rotavirus vaccine will not be given to those children who have taken the pentavalent-1 dose earlier. This is an oral vaccine which is administered to the children in the form of 5 drops.-WTN
