New SOR of Public Works Department released
Bhopal 02 December 2020: Public Works Minister Gopal Bhargav said that the implementation of new SOR (rate schedule) in Public Works Department will save quality and time of construction works. He said that incorporating modern new technical items in this SOR, will help in improving the quality of government construction works. He stated this on the occasion of the release of the new SOR made for road / bridge and building works.
Minister Bhargav said that the demand for revision of SOR rates was being made since long so that the modern techniques that came in the construction activities, could be easily incorporated in the government construction works. Earlier, the SOR was fixed in August-2014. He hoped that in future, construction works of other departments including Public Works will be done according to the demand of quality and time.
Principal Secretary Public Works Department Neeraj Mandloi said that changes made in the SOR by the department after the year 2014 have been made as per the demand of modern technology and time. He said that Central Public Works Department Specifications, National Building Code, Bureau of Energy Efficiency and Indian Standard (IS) have been followed in all the items of civil and electrical works. In addition, criteria have been set on the basis of industry best practices for the items relating to which standard criteria is not available.
The SOR of civil works mainly consists of items like antibacterial flooring, anti microbial false ceiling, precast boundary-wall, crystalline admixture for waterproofing, HDPE membrane, polyurethane coating, modular exposed brick work, thermal insulation of roofs made of GI sheets, etc. Apart from this, the item of Scaffolding net has also been included for the safety of construction labourers. Items of green building and sewage treatment are also included. Similarly, electrical work includes fire retardant low smoke wire and conduit, sanitary napkin incinerator, compact transformer sub station, medical gas pipeline system, façade lighting, HVAC system and non metallic tubular pole.
Principal Secretary Mandloi informed that the SOR will be available free of cost on the Public Works Department website mppwd.gov.in for the use of other departments and undertakings of Madhya Pradesh government – Window to News
