New Consciousness Emerges in Society through Narmada Seva Yatra

Yatra Transforms into People’s Movement 

Bhopal: “Namami Devi Narmade”- Seva Yatra which entered Raisen district on its 101st Day is leaving today for Narsinghpur district on its 109th day. During these 9 days a new energy of consciousness emerged in the society for devotion towards Narmada River besides making it clean and pure.

During the yatra, consciousness towards conservation of Narmada, other rivers, environment and to eradicate social evils were raised among the people through Jan-Sanvad programmes day and night. A positive atmosphere has been created for a social change has been created through the yatra. Views of the

Environmentalists of national and international stature, heads of all the religions, social activists, renowned artists and politicians have awakened the people and have transformed the Narmada seva Yatra into a public movement.

The yatra started from Amarkantak on December 11, 2016 is now not only limited to Narmada river and environment conservation but it has become a multi-objective yatra. Consciousness towards collective responsibility towards de-addiction, Beti Bachao – Beti Padhao, sanitation and to conserve culture and bio-diversity has been aroused among the people. Association of people with self inspiration in large number with the yatra is an indication of success of this campaign.

A wide impact of the messages of Dharmgurus has been noticed to bring changes in pooja rituals as per the current conditions. Scenes like taking back the waste poojan material by the people after performing poojan on several Narmada ghats are being seen. Pledge for plantation on the banks of Narmada River, not to dispose off waste material and inspiration to construct toilets at home besides its use can be seen as success of yatra.-WTN
