Villagers Become Aware of Environment, Water Conservation, Liqour Prohibition and Beti Bachao

Narmada Seva Yatra’s Welcome Site Turns into Fair Site in Narsinghpur District
Bhopal: Villagers have not only started understanding the basic objective of “Namami Devi Narmade”- Seva Yatra, but have started fixing their roles and responsibilities as per the objectives of the yatra. During the discussions with some of the villagers in village Hirapur of district Narsinghpur, it has been noticed that Narmada Seva Yatra is a result of approach towards welfare. Innumerable number of villagers from several villages gathered at Hirapur Panchayat before the arrival of yatra. Welcome site at a distance of 3 k.m from Hirapur made on the shore of a small river Sundari transformed into a fair site.
During the discussion with a labourer Khemchand of village Tendukheda, it was found that he understands the objective of Narmada seva yatra very well. In the words of Khemchand ‘Ja Nadi Saaf Raegi to Hamiere Kaam Aayegi’. Farmer Ramprasad of village Taparia of the district said that yatra is being set out to undertake plantation in large number. He also suggested that plentiful fruit bearing trees should be planted.
Students of class 10th Devendra Patel and Akash Khoja are residents of Taparia, their curiosity have made them reach Hirapur. They said that a message of Swachchta Abhiyan of the Prime Minister is also being given through this yatra. Omkar, a farmer of village Hirapur said that this yatra is arriving at his village to generate awareness towards education. “Narmada Maiyya Ko Theekthaak Rakhne Ke Liye Gaon-Gaon Jakar Samjhaish Di Jaa Rahi Hai”, he added.
Farmer Ramesh Kevat of village Dhama suggested that government officers who are accompanying yatra should also visit school and society of the village to help them work more efficiently.
Cooperation in arrangements towards welcome of yatra was provided by Gram Panchayat Bandhi besides Hirapur Panchayat. Villagers made arrangements to protect potable water from getting hot covering water tankers with sacks. Children of the village expressed their feelings making rangolis and decorating walls with slogans to welcome yatra.
It has come to the fore that people have started understanding the environment, liquor prohibition, Beti Bachao and water conservation now through this yatra.-WTN
